Fifteen years after the release of a virus called Scream (1996) who managed to cast back Slasher horror trend in Hollywood - and the two sequels (1997, 2000) who managed to obtain a fairly equal popularity, directing Meryl Streep in Music of the Heart (1999) and some of the failures that come in the form of Cursed (2005) and My Soul to Take (2010) are among the period - Wes Craven decided that now is a good time to bring the terror back in the life of Sidney Prescott and the release of Scream 4.

Re-directing a script written by Kevin Williamson - with some revisions coming from Ehren Kruger (Scream 3) - Craven managed to bring back the spirit of a Slasher horror that once he is playing in Scream as well as providing sharp digs at various horror film remake that many released lately.
Taking the background of the ten years since the tragedies that occur in Scream 3, the town of Woodsboro seem to have been able to forget the bad memories of his city and transformed into a city full of tranquility. Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) has been married to Gale abandon his career as a reporter to become a writer and Dewey has been a sheriff for the town of Woodsboro. Of course, the main formula of this film in the hands of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell). When Sidney decided to end the promotion of his latest book, Out of the Darkness, in his hometown, at the time of the tragedy that seemed to come back for up to Woodsboro.

Right in Sydney today to set foot back in Woodsboro, Dewey and the city police received word that two teenagers in the city have been brutally murdered - the same way as experienced by dozens of victims before. The furor had hit the city. Sidney is the direct intention of leaving Woodsboro panic, and then prevented Dewey considering he is one of the key witnesses in the incident. Now, Sidney, Gale and Dewey have to try to solve the mystery of what brought the tragedy to come back and disrupt the tranquility of Woodsboro.

It's easy to laugh at the idea of reviving the franchise that should have ended on the third series of the film. However, Wes Craven was able to prove that he is somebody who is more intelligent than that. What is presented Craven and Williamson on Scream 4 has a pattern and the same spirit with what they produce through Scream - and what they failed to achieve through Scream 2 and Scream 3: The success in building a characterization for the supporting roles are present along the road story.

Williamson write a sequence of characters that can take place and its own role in the plot while Craven has a range of actors who successfully made the supporting roles become not just a mere patch. This makes Scream 4 runs tense, when the audience knows all the characters presented before them at the same time directing them to a suspect in the murder of the running.

Supporting characters in the film is played by many young actors and actresses who are geniuses selected by Craven and managed to prove that they are able to turn every role given to them well, no matter big or small their role in the long absence of their presence in the street story. Of the many supporting cast are present, Emma Roberts comes with a very convincing acting ability. Likewise, Marley Shelton, who seems to have been accustomed to act in a supporting role and be highly reliable to animate these characters. Hayden Panettierre also appeared in the portion of the refreshing, similar to the duo Rory Culkin and Eric Knudsen will remind his audience that the couple of the characters in Scream. For the trio Campbell-Cox-Arquette seems unquestionable. The characters they play have been so attached and also played with a very successful life.

Since the first series, Scream is a franchise who realized that the themes and storylines that he is playing is a thing that is very cliche and corny. Therefore, the Scream have never run too seriously and like to have fun with the audience. However, what was done to the Craven Scream 4 exceeds what he did on three previous series. Scream 4 looked more like a remake of the first series than a sequel of the series final.

And that is the main point in this series Craven: he wanted to teach in the remake of horror movie makers that there are certain corners of the story that must be executed to produce a remake of horror movie that was successful and pleasing to behold. Craven Williamson also backed plans by providing lots of comic dialogue about bad horror movies that Hollywood released later. Very fun! The weakest part of the Scream 4 is the duration that reached 111 minutes. Too long due to be filled with some narration and scenes drama that feels slowed the rhythm story that has run so fast since the film began.

Just like John Carpenter, Wes Craven is one of Hollywood horror movie director whose works in the past been used to update and in-remake for the modern generation of viewers. And many of these remakes runs worse than what is produced Craven. Scream 4 is created as an arena of Craven revenge for those who have destroyed the works of classics.
